Good day.....I hope you are well as I share with you another segment of Jus Sayn!


 
          I recollect many times rushing to a pen searching for anything to write on as words, phrases and fresh thoughts rush into my mind.  Some writings are of personal experiences, while others are of observations or merely entertainment.  It's no doubt that I'm in love with poetry.  Although it's obscure to what other creative niches I would indulge in....I do know that poetry has always been my secret twin.   Jus Sayn!!!    By Dionna Ophelia

If it wasn't for poetry lost energy would flow in my veins

With no permissive outlet to assert life's joys and pain.

 

It would be somewhat crude like a mouth with no tongue

As if death was at birth when life begun.

 

A pen's weaponry and poetry the ammunition

Free diverse expressions no room for permission.

 

Creative thoughts of art with a touch of reality

Therapeutically entertaining, formatting lyrics systematically.

 

So if it weren't for poetry a part of me would be dead

Written emotions enhance life especially when circulated and read.

Hello and welcome back from the weekend.  October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and today's segment of Jus Sayn will touch on that.


     Whether intentional or not, hurt people.....hurt people.  Be it emotionally, verbally, or physically;  male or female.  Find within yourself to seek help for yourself as well as for the good of others that care about you so this perfidious cycle can come to a halt.  Jus Sayn!!!   By Dionna Ophelia

The burden the scars

You so well kept

The hidden face of abuse

In the closet you wept.

A slave to pain

And no hand to lend

For each day you died

But you kept it in.

If silence could speak

It would be the first to tell

How quick joy was forgotten

For the embrace of Hell.

But there had to be an Angel

Made especially for you

Breathing life into your soul

Slowly bringing you through.

Everyday is recovery

From the works of violence

Gives more meaning to your life

When there's broken silence!

Good morning.....it's Friday and today's segment of Jus Sayn is about the Step Show.

    Last night I attended a step show in support of my daughter at her school.  The tasteful opening act consisted of a member out of each sorority and fraternity uniting to welcoming spectators as an entity of ODU's Monarchs.  That was HOT!  Once the groups individualized....It was on!

Then came the sisters known to wear pink and green

All on one accord while gracing the scene.

 

Just showing off their swag, dancing and step'n

Shout-out's on stage, ODU's finest rep'n.

 

Well-dressed in suit and tie, everyone was feelin 'em

Front and center...Publik Assassin...AKA...ya'll killin 'em!!!

"Nature"

Good day and welcome to Thursday's segment of Jus Sayn.

'Nature'

     Observing nature is a ritual I love to engage in.  Open to learn about the water and its inhabitants, creatures of the land and air, the forest, mountains and glaciers.  I found nature to be a beauty of itself.  Full of wonder and expectations....from the army of ants busy gathering food for the cold months ahead to the fury of an erupting volcano spilling hot lava upon the land.

     So many questions swim about in my mind, like what exactly causes the shifting of the Earth's plate birthing tsunamis desecrating property and lives in an instance?  It's amazing how we can see and feel the results of something that we cannot contain, better known as the wind.   How were animals inclined to learn to build their homes and care for their young?  I guess what we refer to as human intelligence is equivalent to their stunning natural instincts.

     Nature is in tune with the Earth as the recycle of life continues, gives question to how sick does it get from our careless lifestyles?  Does nature rebuttal amongst each other about the very existence of mankind when their home is defiled by our cruelty, negligence or accidents?  Air, water, and soil....how pure is it from then to now?  The long term indignations of mankind has brought Earth to its knee, if we could hear the voice of nature.....what would be its plea?  Jus Sayn!!!

I'm no tyro like you think

Verbal visions align becoming in sync.

 

I keep a pen just because

Like a gavel to a judge

This is longevity and I'm not going to budge.

To bring a face with the name

I enjoy company but choose to walk alone

My every move is judged as words are thrown of stone.

 

I can't help but love and from a distance I will

Alleviating bitterness I pray as I kneel.

 

Hearts ungrateful and self-centered with no shame

An invite to a gathering, now regretting that I came.

 

I long to be surrounded with laughter and good cheer

The plaque of gossip spreading, I cease to go near.

 

The dark side of things is all they can see

But it corrupts the soul and it doesn't please me.

 

I'm grounded with serenity in the comfort of my home

Away from all the havoc...that's why I walk alone.
