"Harboring Offenses"

It's Thursday and thank you for checking out today's segment of Jus Sayn.  I'll be touching on the subject of offenses.

Harboring Offenses
By Dionna Ophelia

As humans we are all prone to offenses, against others as well as ourselves.  Some offenses are so harsh and personal that it seems to paralyze the essence of our being.  Taking to heart offenses by ones we feel are closest to us, the very ones which should love us unconditionally, and we slowly harbor these offenses.  Slicing through self-righteousness, truth-be-told, we fail ourselves and offend others also.

I used to take things so personal that I allowed them to consume me.  Even the mishaps I entangled myself in.  Replaying words and events in my mind, I may as well have indulged in a bowl of rat poison laced with antifreeze because I was allowing toxic thoughts to slowly seep into my heart and soul as they suffocated.

By all means I'm not justifying heinous or evil acts.  For instance, if someone breaks a leg ways to remedy the brokenness comes to play....the same should be done with our emotions.  Though we can't touch emotions they are a silhouette of our character and personality.  Being emotionally healthy is just as important as fixing that broken leg while both can be painful during the process.

When harboring offenses, bitterness and resentment can begin to grow in us like a wildfire when in reality these toxins need to be released.  One may even have to distant themselves or let go of relationships be it family, friends or associates that deem unhealthy.  To cleanse oneself of these toxins one has to ultimately practice the art of "Forgiveness"...Selah..Jus Sayn!!!

"Forgiveness"
By Dionna Ophelia (copywritten & published)

It's the rebirth of the soul
Misinterpreted by pain's toil.

Seems impossible, remembering to forget
Internalized resentment leaves the skin thick.

But how will peace ever find its way?
When bitterness eats at the heart as it decays?

Conflicts at war of the heart and mind
Many restless nights you'll truly find.

Somehow you have to learn to let it go
Harboring it feeds the pain to grow.

It is the most crucial remedy in healing the heart
Though memories aren't erased Forgiveness is where it starts.
